通過五年的相識,相知,相愛, 兩位新人步入了婚姻的殿堂, 我和媽媽感到非常欣慰, 他們倆人聰明, 正直, 有學識, 有禮貌, 肯努力, 是非常優秀的青年, 祝願他們今後在生活中, 互敬,互愛,,互讓,互諒,互勉,互助, 在事業上發揮各自的聰明才智, 努力奮鬥, 正直做人, 取得優異成績. 今天是兩人新生活的開始, 今後漫長歲月中, 要珍惜相互間的感情, 同甘共苦, 風雨同舟, 恩愛一生, 幸福一生, 爸媽衷心祝福你們.

Jon, 在你14歲離開家去上lawrenceville的時候, 你給了我和媽媽各一封信, 在給媽媽的信上, 有這一句話 “maybe someday I will have a family like ours, cause it is the best in the world”

有一年你給我們的聖誕卡上寫著 “the one thing that gives me purpose in life is the family that I have” 還有著另外一句 “for giving to people I love provides me the most happiness and is truly the greatest gift I can give myself”

我們淡水家中放著你送給我們的一塊飾板, 上面寫著 “family is about remembering what matters, letting go of what doesn’t, laughing, loving and knowing life is good because we have each other”

我們知道, 一直以來, 在你的心中, “家”和”家人”是最重要的. 我們很高興在你人生的第27年開始, 這個家和家人都有了全新的意義.

在今天這個重要的日子裡, 我們兩人想要告訴你, we are so proud of you.  yes, 我們以你為榮. 你永遠是我們最貼心的朋友, 最放心的兒子.

Claire, 我們要謝謝妳, 因為妳, 我們看到了jon這些年的成長和改變, 因為妳, jon有了成家立業的契機. 我們為他高興, 因為他身邊有妳, 一位聰明又有智慧的女人. 我們也為妳高興, 因為你身邊有他, 一位正直又有理想的男人.

Jon and Claire, 美滿婚姻這條路並不好走, 因為不是一個人說了算, 而是要靠你們兩個人共同的努力, 不斷的修正自己的行為, 儘量包容對方的缺點, 互相配合, 犧牲, 為你們共同的家一起耕耘, 一起努力.

媽媽和我在這裡給予你們最真誠的祝福.

我的普通话不够好，希望各位能谅解。我会用英文和中文来说。

I have been a very lucky person throughout my life. I have never wanted for love and support from the people closest to me. As I get married today, I want to thank those who have given me everything over the past 27 years and look forward to many more years of memories.

我今天最遗憾的一件事就是我爺爺和外公外婆無法参加我的婚礼。除了我父母之 外，对我影响最大的就是我爺爺和外公。我爺爺和外公教了我家庭的重要性和责任心。我还记得小时候，爺爺会特别找出时间来和我谈做人的道理。虽然小时候不懂 爺爺的用心良苦，我今天能体会他所教我的所有。做我们于家这一代第一个结婚，我希望能给我们这代做一个好榜样。因为我知道这就是我爺爺的希望。我也希望能 成為我外公一樣,事業成功,一輩子深爱我外婆和他的兒女們。

To my parents, you guys mean the world to me. I count myself the luckiest person as I have never wanted for anything. You have let me be myself in every way and unconditionally supported me. All that I am, all that I will be is solely because of you. You guys have been both my biggest supporter and biggest critic. I love you for it. 

I also want to take this opportunity to thank my dad. He has spent over 6 months organizing this entire wedding. Without him, I would probably have been married in Vegas! 

I also wanted to thank all that have helped in the wedding preparation. 

我首先要感谢我父亲。没有他的支持和功劳。今天的婚礼不可能辦的这么好。

我也要谢Teddy, 乾爹, 周伯伯, 表姨, 表姨父, 毛毛姊姊 and 姊夫. 今天没有您们的帮助，婚礼不可能办的这么成功。

To my friends and family. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming all the way out to Beijing. Life is a series of moments. I have had many of these with each and every one of you. I look forward to many many more. Make sure you don't leave tonight without talking to me!

I hope you all enjoyed the presentation so far. And enjoy the dancing, we’ll dance into the night. I would definitely like to thank my parents and everyone who has put in so much effort into making this day happen and of course it’s very great seeing so many friends and family from all across the world travel out here to celebrate and commemorate Jon and  Claire’s new life together.

I think it’s really a testament for the love and respect we have for Jon and Claire. I think as we all get older we tend to cherish moments like this a lot more where we can get together with the people that are very important to us and create and share more memories together. And I really do hope that going forward, we continue to put forth the time and effort to do this.

Time really does fly, we don’t want to look back in ten years and said wow we should have taken more pictures with certain people who dance with certain women in Rosarito that summer.

So Jon as we are all well aware of, has a very passionate and intense personality. Of course, you might have experience this on the sports fields, basketball, football where he is known as the bulldozer.

Or outside a club in 30 degree weather being Professor Yu.

So, it hasn’t always been so easy growing up with Jon, keeping up with his personality. I clearly remember back in Hong Kong very very long nights at the squash courts because he wouldn’t let me leave until we played enough games where he won enough times to claim overall victory.

Don’t worry, I tried leaving after winning once or twice one time and the heckling and the nagging that I got for the next month was not worth it.

Fortunately, Jon has also channeled his intensity and passion into love and  mentorship for me throughout my life.

He has really been my role model, he has been my best friend and of course honestly I think you’re the kind of older brother that everyone else in the world wishes they had.

You’re the first to encourage me, you’re also the first to give me thoughtful advice, and of course you’re the first to call me an idiot or retard when I make a mistake.

I really do have you to thank for who I am today and where I am. And I really do hope that this relationship that we have that’s so precious to me as well as precious to you is something that we can carry forward from this point on.

So that’s the Jon that I know. And then Claire came into his life. Claire really brings out the best in Jon because you have so many traits that complement and supplement his.

You’re very thoughtful, very caring and of course very beautiful. I will leave it up to you guys to decide which traits are complementary and which traits are supplementary.

I’ve never seen Jon happier than when he’s with Claire. Claire, you really helped him find out what he wants with his life. Where he wants to go. You’ve given him refined focus and clarity. And I really do thank you and appreciate you for that.

So I’m very glad to welcome you with open arms to our family. I know that it might have been a little scary today going through the picture taking and the entire process. But rest assured, that all this energy we have is as my dad and Jon mentioned family really is the most important thing to us and we are just really happy to have another member of our family.

So with that, I would definitely like to wish the best for you two. Hope you guys have a happy and prosperous future together.

Hi Jon, I don’t have anything planned but your dad wanted me to say something. So, pretty much I have to thank you for when I was young and in Hong Kong I remember for my birthday, you guys bought me a football. So I was like, what the hell is this thing. So it was so weird, I didn’t even know what a football was back then. So I guess you started my interest in football and everything. I guess you were always an inspiration to me, I’ve always looked up to you. My mom was always like, you have to drink milk if you want to grow up to be as tall as Jon and Ken, but I hate milk and stuff. I’m sorry, I didn’t really have anything planned. But I love you, and Claire.

我的白芃姐是比才女更漂亮, 比美女更有才. 我很榮幸也很高興今天在這個場合,衷心的祝福我的姐姐及姐夫, 身體健康, 在事業上可以比翼齊飛, 工作生活上互相體貼, 互相關心, 永遠的幸福美滿.

我是她的妹妹，我一直很羡慕我的姐姐。

As her sister, I’ve always admired her so much. For she has been intelligent, determined, independent all the time. And for her achievements in both work and study. So today, she married another outstanding guy. Outstanding man. And I am really happy for her and I hope that they will be happy forever. And they will love each other forever. Thank you.

First of all, I have a little stage fright, so Jon and Claire this is for you guys. Well first of all, congratulations. So I’ll start first, I think for you guys being first one in our generation to get married couldn’t be more fitting. Jon, we grew up together. You’ve always been a brother to me. I think you’ve really challenged me growing up whether it’s thinking about life or physically. I’m competitive for a reason. It’s called survival of the fittest as I’d like to call it. I’ve always looked up to you growing up. And I can speak for a lot of the cousins, you’ve really been the fearless leader in our family. You turned Mike, who used to be scared as hell on the ski slopes and now he’s our speed demon on the hill. 

 Mike – I’m not scared.

I don’t know Mike, that’s debatable. I think you’ve always been the center bringing everyone together. I mean even with all your friends and connecting different crowds together and you’ve always been that nucleus. And you know everyone, we might joke we might tease but we love you. 

I’m just excited for your journey ahead. I’m excited that you found Claire, who is amazing. Claire, I will never forget the first day we ever really met and connected. We just spoke for a full hour and you opened up so warmly. And I knew that day that not only were you the perfect fit for Jon, knowing who Jon is and who he can be. I have full faith that you bring out the best in him and make him happy. But more importantly that you will fit so well with the family as well. And that everyone will embrace you. 

So again, congratulations and like I told Jon, going through the process is stressful and you guys are probably tired. But everyone wants to be here to celebrate and witness your love and the journey ahead. Congratulations.
